Guided by Jovelyn Gonzaga, Dawn Catindig thrives with Cignal

Dawn Catindig is grateful to have found a new family in Cignal after spending the last seven years with F2 Logistics.

Catindig signed with the HD Spikers during the off-season after the Cargo Movers decided to disband its team in the Premier Volleyball League to focus on its grassroots program.

“Syempre happy ako with this new team na may bago na naman akong pamilya. Very grateful lang talaga and I’m just taking it one day at a time,” said the multi-titled libero.PVL-2024-Cignal-vs.-Akari-4148 Guided by Jovelyn Gonzaga, Dawn Catindig thrives with Cignal News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

On Saturday night, Catindig made her PVL debut with Cignal and she definitely did not disappoint, anchoring the HD Spikers’ defense against the pesky Akari which resulted in a 21-25, 25-18, 25-12, 25-18 win at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The former PVL Best Libero tallied 22 excellent digs and 11 excellent receptions as Cignal opened its All-Filipino Conference campaign with a big win.

“Very grateful kasi na-feel ko talaga ‘yung tiwala ng mga coaches kung sino ‘yung nasa loob. Although ‘yun nga, slow start kami, na-feel namin ‘yung tiwala ni Coach (Shaq Delos Santos) na makakabalik kami,” said Catindig.

Catindig also credited HD Spikers veteran Jovelyn Gonzaga for guiding her throughout her and the rest of the team, especially following their first-set loss to the Chargers.

“Sa short months na I’ve been playing with the team, nandun din kasi ‘yung guidance, especially si Ate Jov (Gonzaga). Ngayon ko lang nakalaro si Ate Jov with Cignal, so sobrang laking tulong din kasi siya ‘yung nag-cocollate sa team kapag medyo scattered na,” the La Salle product expressed.

“Sobrang laking tulong talaga na may senior na gumagabay sa team.”
