Greg Slaughter signs with B2 team Fukuoka

Greg Slaughter’s next journey will be in the land of the rising sun.

The 7-foot big man has signed with B.League Division II team Fukuoka.

Slaughter and Rizing Zephyr announced the development on Saturday.

“I’m looking forward to joining the team and playing for their great city and fans,” read the 34-year-old Cebuano’s post.

Slaughter is a four-time PBA champion, and was the Best Player of the Conference back in the 2017 Governors’ Cup.

After spending the first seven years of his career with Ginebra, the Gin Kings shipped him to Northport back on March 5, 2021.

Slaughter averaged 17.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks during the 2021 Philippine Cup.

After playing in four games and posting numbers of 14.3 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks during the Governors’ Cup, Slaughter decided not to re-sign with the Batang Pier. Instead, he became a restricted free agent.

He joins a Fukuoka team that is coming off a 20-30 finish last season.

“Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible and thank you to the club for being so welcoming and generous to me and my family!” his post read.

“Most of all, thank you to all that believe in me. Please continue supporting me on this journey and the Rizing Zephyr.”

Also competing in B2 this year are Kobe Paras (Altiri Chiba) and Jordan Heading (Nagasaki Velca).
