Gorayeb will not return to NU

After being with National University for two and a half years, decorated mentor Roger Gorayeb confirmed that, together with assistant coaches Edjet Mabbayad and Fred Niel, he will no longer return to the National University Lady Bulldogs.

The San Sebastian Lady Stags and Bali Pure Purest Water Defenders mentor claimed that he had found out that he was being replaced on Wednesday night.

Gorayeb steered the Lady Bulldogs to the UAAP Final Four when he took over in the second half of Season 77. But the Lady Bulldogs surprisingly fell out of post-season contention in the next two seasons.

The former Ateneo head coach claims that he is being replaced by NUIS Lady Bullpups coach Babes Castillo, although no official confirmation has come from the NU side.

“Paano ka makakapagtrabaho nang maayos kung may mga bumubulong diyan sa paligid mo, mariring mo na may papalit na sa’yo? Nakaka-apaketo sa mga bata,” said Gorayeb after his Bali Pure squad had swept Pocari Sweat, a team that employs Castillo as assistant coach.

The three-time UAAP Juniors coach vehemently denies all claims made by Gorayeb, stressing that he is focused with the Lady Bullpups. He added that he was not even aware that he was being considered as Gorayeb’s replacement.

That development also means the Lady Bulldogs’ team manager for eight years, Rudy Chua, will also be leaving the team. The university has yet to accept the resignations.
