Gina Iniong gets opportunity to replace Angela Lee in Singapore card

Gina Iniong (6-2) greatly impressed during ONE Championship: Legends of the World, whitewashing Indonesian Hertati Lumban Gaol with a second round TKO win.

The win is the 27-year-old’s third straight, with two in ONE Championship. With the string of impressive victories, one has to wonder, where is Iniong in the rankings of ONE’s Women’s Atomweight division?ONE-Legends-of-the-World-Gina-Iniong-def-Hertati-Lumban-Gaol Gina Iniong gets opportunity to replace Angela Lee in Singapore card Mixed Martial Arts News ONE Championship - philippine sports news

If you ask the promotion’s Chief Executive Officer Chatri Sityodtong, Iniong deserves to be part of the promotion’s biggest show for the year, Immortal Pursuit.

“Gina has been offered to fight Mei [Yamaguchi] on two weeks notice, let’s see if Gina accepts, but that is a massive fight for Gina,” the promoter shared.

Yamaguchi (16-10-1) was supposed to take on reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angele Lee on November 24. However, Lee figured into a car accident last Thursday, sidelining her for the next few months.

But with Iniong barely getting hurt in the match-up, she shared that she is willing to sign on the dotted line.

“Tatanggapin ko kasi nag-train naman ako,” said Iniong, who defeated Yamaguchi last March, 2014 during PXC 43, “tapos ensayado naman ako.”

Once Yamaguchi accepts the challenge, it will definitely be a title eliminator bout, with the winner getting a crack at Lee’s belt.

“Let’s see if Mei accepts, that’s a massive massive fight, because if Gina wins, then we’re talking a title shot against Angela Lee.”
