Gina “Conviction” Iniong wants to compete one more time on the ONE Championship stage before the year ends.
Now the 30-year-old has her return date in mind if her bosses in The Home Of Martial Arts would allow it.
“I really hope to compete in November here in Manila,” Iniong said, referring to ONE: Masters of Fate on November 8 at the Mall Of Asia Arena. “It’s been a while since I last fought here.
“I’m just waiting for it, it’s going to be easier since I’ll have more than two months to prepare.”
Surprisingly, the six-time Philippine Wushu Champion is about to marry her longtime partner Richard Araos in a date yet to be determined.
But she insists that not even wedding plans could stop her from asking for a match in November – a testament to how she balances her career and personal life.
“I had a short vacation, but I still train,” Iniong said. “Right now, I’m preparing for our wedding, but nonetheless I’m still waiting for my next bout.
“I’ve been engaged for a long time. We’re just fixing the papers and then we’ll determine a date. Maybe this month or the next – depends on the schedule.”
With November around the corner, Iniong hopes that her bosses will hear her requests – she would like nothing more than to stay active.
“I’ll face whoever they put in front of me,” Iniong said.
“What’s important is I get back to active competition. If I had it my way, I’d like to compete three or four times a year.”
ONE Championship rewrites history with ONE: Century on October 13 in Tokyo, Japan.
