Gilas participation uncertain for Pogoy as fractured finger slow to heal

Roger Pogoy will not fly with Gilas Pilipinas when they head to Estonia on Thursday.

This as his fractured right pinky has yet to heal fully, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.

Pogoy, who recently celebrated his 31st birthday, sustained the injury during Game Three of the 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals last April 16.

The Estonia camp is crucial for Gilas’ buildup for the 2023 FIBA World Cup this August as they will face Estonia, Finland, among others.

Also not making the trip are Bobby Ray Parks Jr., Jordan Heading, and Calvin Oftana.

Parks has been nursing a wrist injury since last March while Heading absorbed a back injury during the B2 semifinals.

Oftana, on the other hand, has been dealing with a calf injury since the 32nd Southeast Asian Games.

Earlier, Carl Tamayo begged off from the pool due to injury.

Jordan Clarkson and Kai Sotto are both still in the US with the former still in the midst of contract talks while the latter is hoping for a Summer League callup.

Good news is that both Justin Brownlee will join the team in Estonia, according to head coach Chot Reyes.

Also going to Estonia are brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena; June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Scottie Thompson, Dwight Ramos, Japeth Aguilar, Rhenz Abando, AJ Edu, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, JP Erram, and Angelo Kouame.
