Gilas Pilipinas Men is hoping for the best with regard to its roster composition for the 31st Southeast Asian Games.
Head coach Chot Reyes confirmed that Kevin Alas has begged off to be on the side of his wife Selina as she is still recovering from Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia.
“Last minute, sinabi niya Selina wouldn’t allow him,” said Reyes on Tiebreaker Vods’ 2OT.
“I hope everybody understands that the situation is very fluid. Inaanak ko yung dalawa.”
The deadline for entries was last May 8.
Also part of the roster are Kiefer Kib Montalbo, Roger Pogoy, Matthew Wright, Lebron Lopez, Kevin Alas, Thirdy Ravena, Isaac Go, Mo Tautuaa, June Mar Fajardo, and Troy Rosario.
Reyes is hoping that the Vietnam SEA Games Organizing Committee allows them to plug Jaydee Tungcab for the last spot.
“There is a big possibility that we play with 11 players unless there is an exception for humanitarian reasons,” he said.
