Controversial San Miguel 3×3 player Daniel De Guzman has been summoned by the Games and Amusements Board to explain himself and his alleged involvement in a game-fixing controversy.
“We at the Games and Amusements Board do not tolerate any form of gambling,” said GAB chairman Baham Mitra.
“We have asked him to make an appearance in our office to explain his side of his story.”
Back on September 14, De Guzman was linked by a certain Nai Nuelsan for giving a “wrong tip” to a friend of his with regards to the result of the San Miguel versus Ginebra game last September 10. The Beermen won the game 111-102.
The odds for the game was San Miguel plus-3.5 while the over/under was set at 179.5.
A deposit of P150,000 was allegedly deposited to De Guzman’s cohort while the amount of the bet was not disclosed.
Through his agent Danny Espiritu, De Guzman denied any involvement in it despite screenshots of his conversation regarding it was also uploaded.
GAB is also in close coordination with the Philippine Basketball Association with regard to this case.
“Unless proven guilty, one is presumed innocent,” said Mitra.
