Fukushima grants Bolick’s request for a release

Fukushima has announced that it has terminated the contract of Robert Bolick for the rest of the 2023-24 B.League season.

The Firebonds bared that Bolick was the one who asked to be released from the team that caught them by surprise.

We would like to announce the termination of the contract with Robert Bolick.

Bolick was the first player to be introduced in this season’s lineup, and the club held high expectations for him. I believe this sentiment was shared by all our supporters. However, Bolick recently expressed his intention to leave the club, and despite numerous discussions, he remained resolute in his decision. In the end, we chose to honor his wishes. I would like to emphasize that the contract terms did not make it easy to terminate or transfer mid-season,” the team’ statement read.

Bolick only played one regular season game with Fukushima.

Against Yamagata last October 7, Bolick finished with 10 points, five rebounds, and four assists.

This situation arose shortly after the season began, catching the club off guard. I deeply regret any disappointment felt by our devoted supporters who had high hopes for Bolick,” the statement continued.

The Firebonds are still pondering their next move on whether they will sign another Asian Quota Player.

For now, they are asking for patience from the Fukushima faithful.

I’d also like to extend my gratitude to our coach, team staff, and all the Bonds players for their unwavering dedication, even in these unexpected circumstances,” the Firebonds said.

We are actively working on plans for strengthening the team in the future and will provide updates once they are finalized. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Fukushima Fire Bonds.

“For those who have already purchased Bolick’s merchandise, we are committed to facilitating exchanges. We will share further details in due course, so please bear with us for a little while.”
