From five-setter, Alyssa Valdez, Michele Gumabao rush to ABS-CBN Ball

There was no time for Creamline Cool Smashers Alyssa Valdez and Michele Gumabao to sulk over defeat on Saturday night at the Imus City Sports Center.

Following a five-set loss to the Petro Gazz Angels in their PVL Open Conference debut, Valdez and Gumabao had to immediately rush and get glammed up for the ABS-CBN Ball at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel.

In merely two hours, the pair went from weary athletes to blending in with some of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry.

Both women chose outfits that accentuated their athletic build. Valdez went with a glittery off-shoulder number from young designer Rosenthal Tee, which showed off her muscular arms fresh from scoring 26 points.

Miss World-Globe Michele Gumabao, on the other hand, opted for a flesh-tone gown from Nat Manilag, who had designed Gumabao’s gown for the National Costume portion of the 2018 Miss Philippines pageant.

While they did have to brave the traffic from Cavite to Makati just to make the event, Valdez still had the time to speak with Tiebreaker Times about their loss to Petro Gazz.

“Siyempre hindi talaga ‘yun ‘yung in-expect namin na outcome. But, maganda talaga ‘yung nilaro ng Petro Gazz. Siyempre, marami pa kaming paghahandaan as a team,” said the perennial National Team campaigner.

“Wala na kaming magagawa kasi nandito na kami sa situwasyon na ‘to. We just have to accept it and recover agad.”
