As the holiday season approaches, Fritz Biagtan finds himself on the brink of a momentous opportunity that could make his Christmas much merrier.
The prospect of securing a $100,000-worth contract with ONE Championship is within his grasp, and he is determined to seize this chance at ONE Friday Fights 44 on December 8.
“I think this is the turning point I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. I don’t want to disappoint,” Biagtan told Tiebreaker Times.
On the card set to happen at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, “Kid Tornado” squares off against Afghanistan’s Babar Ali in a three-round flyweight encounter.
Biagtan is no stranger to success under the ONE Friday Fights banner, a platform established by ONE Championship earlier this year with the mission to be “the launching pad for rising stars and the proving grounds for returning legends.”
The weekly live event has proven to be a life-changer for numerous athletes, offering exposure to a much wider audience and the chance to compete for a $10,000 performance bonus.
However, the ultimate prize is the six-figure pact with the promotion, guaranteeing a spot on the main roster and multiple bouts for a specific period.
Several fighters have already benefited from ONE Friday Fights, securing lucrative deals. Among them are Muay Thai practitioners such as Seksan Or Kwanmuang, Johan Ghazali, Yu Yau Pui, and Thongpoon PK Saenchai.
Now, Biagtan eyes the chance to make history by becoming the first mixed martial artist and Filipino talent to land this sought-after contract.
In fact, he has been informed by officials that he is just one decisive victory away from signing a document that could alter his career’s trajectory.
“A ONE official talked to me and told me, ‘Get ready for the big news. I will update you in a few days.’ When I was in Bangkok, they said they would give me a big fight on December 8 If I show up and perform better than what I showed in my last fight, they could potentially give me the contract,” he revealed.
“This is big for me. There’s no way that I’ll say no to this. This is my chance and I don’t have plans of letting this go.”
With a perfect 2-0 record in ONE Friday Fights, he is on the right track to achieving this milestone.
His remarkable run began this past February when he announced his arrival with a third-round technical knockout win over Nurmukhammad Adamkhonov.
Biagtan’s star shined even brighter last October when he knocked out Deepak Bhardwaj in 73 seconds. This triumph also pocketed him an extra $10,000.
With aspirations to strut his wares on ONE Championship’s grand stage in 2024, Biagtan is determined to turn his Christmas wish into a reality.
“I can’t deny that I feel pressure heading into this fight. But at the same time, I am also motivated. I just promise myself and those who support me that I will give my 100 percent in this fight,” he stated.
