Fnatic ONIC Philippines extended their winning streak to 10 with a dominant 2-0 sweep against TNC Pro Team in MPL Philippines Season 14 on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.
The pivotal moment for ONIC came in the 16th minute when Jomearie “Escalera” Santos (Chou) attempted to pick off Borris “Brusko” Parro (Tigreal) in the mid-lane.
The Sonics turned the situation around, resulting in a wipeout of TNC and allowing ONIC to secure a decisive finish.
Throughout the match, Duanne “Kelra” Pillas emerged as a significant threat, making it difficult for TNC to target his Alice. Kelra concluded the game with an impressive performance, recording seven kills and nine assists without dying.
“Again, yes, I am very happy. Pero ayon nga, as K1NGKONG mentioned a while ago sa stage, this has been probably the toughest week namin in terms of training. So, definitely next week, matitindi rin mga laban namin,” said head coach Anthony “Ynot” Senedrin during the post-match interview.
In Game 1, FNOP had an opportunity to end the match in the 15th minute, but Escalera (Belerick), Ken “Kzen” Pile (Hayabusa), and Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan (Lou Yi) successfully defended the base turret.
Following this outstanding defense, TNC saw a glimmer of hope when Kzen managed to steal the Lord during the 16th minute.
However, TNC failed to capitalize on this momentum and fell one by one to the hands of Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez (Yve) and Jann “Kirk” Gutierrez (Ruby), who combined for eight kills, 11 assists, and just three deaths.
Looking ahead, Fnatic ONIC Philippines will face Aurora on September 28 at 5:00 PM.
“I am sure Aurora will bring their A-game, I’m pretty sure RSG, hindi magpapatalo yan kase medyo delikado ngayon eh. Yung part nila. So, definitely for us yung preparation namin dapat mas maging disiplinado kami, focused. Pero looking forward pa rin kami, one series at a time,” said Ynot.
Meanwhile, TNC Pro Team is scheduled to take on Smart Omega on Sunday at 7:30 PM.
