Mapua University was a no-show in its 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup game against National University on Sunday.
As a result, the Bulldogs were awarded the game with a scoreline of 20-0. Moreover, with their sixth win, NU has clinched a quarterfinals slot in the preseason tournament.
The Cardinals, meanwhile, have long been eliminated from the playoff race. They are now 0-6 in the tournament.
Coincidentally, the core of the Cardinals is currently playing for Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League. They are currently facing Apex Fuel-San Sebastian in Game Two of the semifinals at the SMART Araneta Coliseum as of press time.
Mapua still has two games left in its slate in the Preseason Cup, facing Arellano on Monday and Emilio Aguinaldo College on Saturday.
The next game for the day which will pit Colegio de San Juan de Letran and San Beda University will go on as scheduled at 3:00 PM.
