For the second time this preseason, Mapua University did not show up for an assignment in the FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup.
The Cardinals forfeited their game against Arellano University on Monday due to health and safety protocols.
“Six players have high fever and are in isolation for non-COVID-19-related illnesses, making the Cardinals unable to field a team for their match against the Chiefs,” read a statement released by FilOil EcoOil Sports.
As a result, the Chiefs will get their first preseason win to improve to 1-4, while the Cardinals are yet to win a single preseason game with six losses.
The team will undergo additional testing before the Cardinals’ last game against Emilio Aguinaldo College on Sunday, August 20. Those who acquire negative results from their antigen tests will be permitted to participate in their final game.
Up next for Arellano is College of St. Benilde on Wednesday at 9 AM.
