Filoil makes final change to groupings as UP, Letran lead pools

Filoil Ecooil has decided to revert back to its original pooling system for the 2022 Preseason Cup.

Instead of slotting all the UAAP squads and San Beda University in one group while the rest of the NCAA field in another, the league reverted back to the snake system for the groupings.

Reigning UAAP champion University of the Philippines will lead Group A and will be joined by NCAA runner-up Mapua University.

Completing the group are Adamson University, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, College of Saint Benilde, National University, Arellano University, University of the East, and Emilio Aguinaldo College.

Meanwile, NCAA champion Colegio de San Juan de Letran headlines Group B along with UAAP bronze medalist De La Salle University and NCAA third placer San Beda.

Rounding up the second pool are Far Eastern University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, University of Santo Tomas, Lyceum of the Philippines University, and Jose Rizal University.

The elimination round of the tournament will be from July 23-August 21.

The quarterfinals are set on August 23, the semis on the 25th, and the final on the 27th.
