Filipinas name pool for Papua New Guinea friendlies


The Philippine Women’s National Football Team has released the names of the 23 players involved in the squad’s last training camp of the year in Australia.

This set of players will also be the ones who will compete for places to face Papua New Guinea this Sunday and next Thursday.

Coach Alen Stajcic will have the likes of Kiara Fontanilla, Kaiya Jota, and Olivia Davies-McDaniel to pick in front of goal.

Regarding the defense, Maya Alcantara, Alicia Barker, Reina Bonta, Malea Cesar, Jessika Cowart, Sofia Harrison, Eva Madarang, Chantelle Maniti, Dominique Randle, Cam Rodriguez, and Tara Shelton to pick from.

Over to midfield, Tahnai Annis, Sara Eggesvik, Carleigh Frilles, Kaya Hawkinson, Jaclyn Sawicki, and Meryll Serrano will compete for spots.

In the attack, Isabella Flanigan, Katrina Guillou, and Quinley Quezada shall look to score the goals.

Hali Long, Inna Palacios, and Sarina Bolden were not named in the pool.

Bolden is in season for WE.League team Saitama. Meanwhile, Long and Palacios will be in the midst of the PFF Women’s Cup playoffs.

Papua New Guinea ranks 50th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings. They have won the Pacific Games five times. They also won the OFC Women’s Nations Cup in 2022.

The friendlies will take place in Sydney. Both will kick off at 4:00 PM, Manila time.
