Filipinas keep core for friendlies vs Ireland, Bosnia


The Philippine Women’s National Football Team’s preparations for the upcoming 2022 AFF Women’s Championship are in full swing.

The Philippine Football Federation announced Thursday evening that 28 players have been called for the Filipinas’ upcoming friendlies against Ireland and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Olivia McDaniel, Kiara Fontanilla, and Inna Palacios remain the goalkeepers for the team.

When it comes to the defense, Hali Long, Dominique Randle, Maya Alcantara, Ryley Bugay, Isabella Flanigan, Catherine Graversen, Chantelle Maniti, Eva Madarang, Sofia Harrison, and Tara Shelton will compete for a spot in the backline.

Skipper Tahnai Annis leads the charge for the midfielders. Other players who will fight for a slot in the middle of the park are Anicka Castaneda, Malea Cesar, Jessika Cowart, Sara Eggsvik, Carleigh Frilles, Katrina Guillou, Kaya Hawkinson, Jessica Miclat, Cam Rodriguez, and Jaclyn Sawicki.

In terms of the forwards, Sarina Bolden, Shai del Campo, Quinley Quezada, and Alyssa Jane Ube will be expected to put the ball at the back of the net.

Coach Alen Stajcic’s wards shall go up against Ireland on June 19 while they will face Bosnia on June 23 and 26.
