Almond Vosotros torched Indonesia, carrying Gilas Pilipinas Men to the main draw of the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup after a 21-15 (5:58) victory, Thursday in Singapore.
With the win, the Philippines will head to Pool C joining host Singapore and Group H leader China. The pool games begin on July 9.
And it’s all thanks to the hot hands of Vosotros.
The former Gilas Men 5-on-5 cadet nailed five deuces in the contest for 11 points.
The TNT Tropang Giga player scored the last nine points of the Philippines, turning an 11-10 deficit into a quick victory with 4:02 to spare.
“We are playing for the country so I told them to do their best,” said Vosotros. “We are just focusing on the game, taking things one game at a time”
Joseph Eriobu, meanwhile, scored six of his eight points in the first three minutes of the game.
Indonesia, who defeated Jordan earlier in the day, was led by the 11 points of Sandy Aziz.
