Besides having a lavish ceremony to open the first conference of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3, two key figures will also be present to watch over the event.
During the opening of the President’s Cup set on Saturday, February 16 at SM Megamall’s Activity Center, FIBA 3×3 director David Crocker and business manager Fei Gao will be on hand to witness the event.
League owner Ronald Mascariñas told the team owners this development, Tuesday evening during a gathering held at Fab Restaurant in Holiday Inn, Pasig.
“Ang kagandahan dito is yung top brass ng FIBA 3×3 is coming on February 16,” the sports patron shared to the team owners present. “In fact, they want all the heads of the federations in Asia will come to observe on how we will conduct the opening.
“Yung pagdating ng FIBA representatives, I hope we can chart even better how we can raise more points.”
With this, Mascariñas expressed that this league, the first of its kind in the country, will be different from one the team owners are used to.
“The main reason we invited all of you is really just to know you better,” the president of Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. added. “When we roll on with the league, we want to have regular gatherings like this. If may concerns, mapagusapan natin. We want you to treat this league as one family. Kung ano man yung mga problema natin, we will resolve it together.”
Treating the team owners as business partners, the amiable executive wants all 12 pioneering teams to help spread the company’s mission together with them — to promote nationalism through sports.
“Tayo ang magpapalakas ng 3×3 dito sa Asia. It’s up to us if yung liga natin ang magdadala ng points para mag-qualify tayo sa Olympics,” Mascariñas declared.
“Our main advocacy is to restore our love of country and with your help, we will spread this mission.”
Present during the first of many gathering among team owners are Bacoor Strikers’ Dennis Abella; 1Bataan Risers’ Borgie Hermida and Jonas Villanueva; Marikina Shoemasters’ Marvin Manzon and head coach Elvis Tolentino; Pasig-Grindhouse Kings’ Aldo Panlilio and Lou Abad; Pasay’s Philip Sison; Go-for-Gold-San Juan Knights’ Chris Conwi and Dands Javier; Valenzuela Classic’s Alvin and Grace Bartolome; Vigan Baluarte’s Christian Singson and Michael Acuna; and Zamboanga Valientes’ Junnie Navarro.
