Far Eastern University continued its unbeaten run in the 2024 Shakey’s Super League Pre-Season Championship, sweeping Ateneo de Manila University 25-18, 25-18, 25-19 on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Lady Tamaraws showcased a dominant performance, bombarding the Blue Eagles’ floor defense with 43 successful spikes.
Ateneo struggled to keep up, committing 21 errors in the one-hour-and-21-minute match.
Alyzza Devosora led FEU’s offensive charge, scoring 14 points on 11 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.
Chenie Tagaod, Jean Asis, and Jazlyn Ellarina contributed six points each for the Lady Tamaraws, pushing FEU’s Pool F record to 2-0 and their overall record to 5-0.
Meanwhile, Ateneo, now 0-3 in the tournament, will face a twice-to-beat disadvantage in the final round.
Lyann de Guzman and J-Lo Delos Santos paced the Blue Eagles with nine and eight points, respectively.
On the other hand, both University of Santo Tomas and National University bounced back with commanding wins in the tournament, which is supported by Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, GCash, Chery Tiggo, F2 Logistics, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Potato Corner, R&B Milk Tea, and Summit Water.
The Golden Tigresses defeated the UP Fighting Maroons 25-14, 25-19, 25-21, finishing their Pool F campaign with a 2-1 record.
Angge Poyos and Kyla Cordora led UST with 11 and 10 points, respectively, after coming off a loss to FEU last Saturday.
National University’s Lady Bulldogs also rebounded from their four-set loss to DLSU, defeating the Benilde Lady Blazers 25-11, 25-23, 25-13 to improve to 1-1 in Pool E.
Bella Belen and Alexa Mata each scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, to lead NU.
Kassandra Doering paced the Fighting Maroons, who fell to 1-1, with 11 points.
