A couple of UAAP standouts are set to finish their secondary studies at Letran High School.
Far Eastern University-Diliman’s Dwyne Miranda and University of the Philippines Integrated School’s Daryl Valdeavilla are moving to Intramuros.
New Squires head coach Willie Miller confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.
“Malaking bagay sila sa sinisimulan namin dito sa Letran especially galing kami sa championship,” said Squires head coach Miller.
“Miranda, isa yan sa magiging leaders namin lalo na galing pa siya sa championship sa FEU. Si Daryl naman, nakikita ko isa sa up-and-coming guards.”
Miranda, 19, will be a one-and-done for the Squires as he will be in Grade 12 come NCAA Season 100.
During UAAP Season 86, he averaged 10.57 points, 3.64 rebounds, 4.79 assists, and 1.29 steals per game. He was a UAAP champion in 5-on-5 during Season 85 and 3×3 in Season 86.
On the other hand, Valdeavilla was the Rookie of the Year in Season 85. Valdeavilla averaged 19.93 points, 4.86 rebounds, 2.57 assists, and 2.14 steals last season.
Valdeavilla still has two playing years remaining in the juniors ranks.
Both will be eligible immediately come NCAA Season 100.
The Squires saw Jonathan Manalili, George Diamante, and Jovel Baliling play out their final high school years last season.
Miranda and Valdeavilla will look to help fill the shoes left by the three seniors.
