In a rivalry that spanned for over three years and lasted for four bouts, Bibiano Fernandes made sure that he won’t see Kevin Belingon again.
Fernandes successfully defended his ONE Bantamweight World Championship, submitting Belingon with a rear naked choke in the second round (2:34), Sunday evening during Century Part II at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
The Brazilian grounded the wushu fighter in the second round. He then got around, sinking a tight choke that forced the tap-out.
Unlike their second bout, Fernandes dominated this fight, showing his advanced grappling skills all throughout.
Belingon fell to 23-5, while Fernandes rose to 21-6.
Their first bout back in January of 2016 saw Belingon tap to Fernandes in the first round with a kimura. Belingon was able to get the win back with a split decision win back in November of 2018.
Last March in Japan, Belingon was disqualified after throwing illegal elbows to the back of Fernandes’ head.
