Faith Nisperos, Aiza Pontillas lead PH team for AVC Cup for Women


Faith Nisperos’ first game after Ateneo de Manila University will be for the national team.

The 5-foot-11 outside hitter headlines the 14 players that will represent the Philippines in the 2023 AVC Cup for Women set from June 18 to 25 in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia.

Nisperos, the rookie of Akari, will be joined by five other Chargers, namely setter Michelle Cobb, libero Bang Pineda, middle Ezra Madrigal, and opposites Eli Soyud and Erika Raagas.

Completing the team are the Petro Gazz duo of Djanel Cheng and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas; PLDT’s Jules Samonte; and Chery Tiggo’s Shaya Adorador.

The Philippines will be slotted in Pool A along with Macau (June 19) and Indonesia (June 20).

The top two teams in each of the four pools will figure in the crossover quarterfinals on June 23. They will either face Australia or India.
