Eya Laure’s future with University of Santo Tomas hangs in the balance after being eliminated in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament, Tuesday evening.
The 23-year-old spiker, who led all student-athletes in scoring after the elimination round, can go pro and will surely be a top recruit, but she can also opt to stay with the Golden Tigresses.
But for now, less than an hour after UST’s rough 23-25, 23-25, 20-25 defeat at the hands of fourth seed Ateneo de Manila University, she’s not yet thinking about that.
“Ngayon, gusto ko munang mag-isip,” said Laure after the game.
However, Laure who has been with UST since her high school days will sit on it for a long while.
She has been a household name for the Tigresses, both in the juniors and seniors ranks. Laure was part of UST Junior Tigresses team which won the Season 76 title when she was still a setter.
“Pero syempre pag-iisipan ko yan nang mabuti kasi hindi naman madali iwan na lang ‘yung UST ng ganon ganon lang,” the national team stalwart continued.
“So ngayon wala pa talaga akong masasagot diyan (next step).”
Laure though is sure of one thing. She will keep on working to improve her game whether it be in the pro ranks or still in the UAAP.
This after a packed schedule with teams playing every other day since May 5.
“Magte-training, magpapalakas, magrerecover from this season.”
Laure then bared that she was playing hurt, all for her beloved UST.
She, however, did not disclose what was bothering her.
“‘Yung injury marami na rin namang nakakahalata pero syempre ayun pa rin talaga, kailangan kong mag-rehab, strengthening and mas magpalakas pa ng katawan.”
