Things turned heated between two former Far Eastern University stalwarts during Game One of the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals clash between Ginebra and Meralco on Wednesday.
During the closing seconds of the Bolts’ 104-91 win over the Barangay, Arvin Tolentino and Raymar Jose almost engaged in fisticuffs.
Jose tried to back down Tolentino from midcourt to waste time. The 6-foot-5 Tolentino though did not back off, bodying up the 6-foot-4 Cebuano.
Safe to say, Jose, who is three years the senior of Tolentino, did not take too kindly to it, confronting Tolentino as play stopped.
Jose would be overheard saying, “Sapakan na lang!”, to which Tolentino agreed to do outside of the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The trashtalking between the two extended to the parking lot as the two left the venue.
“Much ado about nothing. I don’t really understand the commotion, to be honest with you,” said Norman Black after the game.
Definitely, this incident adds another spice to the already heated rivalry between Meralco and Ginebra.
“With a lot of the commotion that went on at the end of this game, I would imagine Game Two will be very exciting.”
