Hat-trick for the Philippine Boxing Team
Filipino Middleweight Eumir Marcial was flat-out stunning Wednesday evening, blasting Korea’s Jinjea Kim en route to a unanimous decision win at the JIExpo – Hall C in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The bout was so lopsided that judge Ramona Cobzac scored the bout in favor of Marcial, 30-25. The other four judges had it 30-27.
Marcial scored a knock down in the second round before going on an all-out blitz in the third and final frame.
The two-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist will join teammates light flyweight Carlo Paalam and flyweight Rogen Ladon during the penultimate day of competition on Friday, August 30. The troika are all guaranteed a medal in the continental meet.
Marcial will face Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov in the semifinals, who scored a unanimous decision win over Iran’s Seyedshanin Mousavi. Madrimov finished with a silver medal back in the 2014 Incheon Games.
