Elvin Chan, Pasay outlast Muntinlupa in OT; Zamboanga gives Jeric Teng rude MPBL welcome

The Pasay Voyagers followed up their razor-thin 70-68 win over Navotas five days ago, with another thrilling victory.

Behind Elvin Chan, Pasay came alive in overtime, silencing the Muntilupa Cagers, 76-75, Saturday evening at the latter’s home floor.

Chan scored seven of his 11 points in extra time – including the go-ahead and-one that broke a 67-all deadlock with 2:34 left.

Jan Jamon led Pasay with 15 markers and nine boards, but needed 16 attempts from the field. Dhon Reverente tallied 10 points and 15 rebounds for the 2-0 Voyagers.

Reggie Basibas’ 22-point, nine-rebound outing was not enough to lift the Cagers to the win column.

In the first game, Harold Arboleda and Zamboanga-Family’s Brand Sardines spoiled the MPBL debut of Jeric Teng with a dominant 82-69 win over the Pasig-Sta. Lucia Realtors.

Teng had 17 points and eight rebounds for the Realtors while fellow ex-PBA pro Josan Nimes added 12 points.

But their production could not keep close with the depth of Zamboanga.

Harold Arboleda notched his 22nd double-double in the MPBL with 11 points and 16 rebounds to tow Zamboanga to a 1-1 slate.

The NU tandem of Med Salim and Robin Rono had 16 and 15 markers respectively while Allan Santos added 12 markers for Zamboanga, who led by as much as 18 points in the game.
