Eight men show up as Gilas Men’s hold first World Cup practice

Only eight players attended the commencement of Gilas Pilipinas’ preparations for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in August, Monday evening at the Meralco Gym in Ortigas, Pasig City.

June Mar Fajardo, Japeth Aguilar, Marcio Lassiter, and Mark Barroca spearheaded the session despite having little rest from their respective games in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup last night.

Barroca is fresh from the Magnolia Hotshots’ 110-103 win over Columbian Dyip. Meanwhile, Aguilar, Lassiter, and Fajardo are all coming off a grueling San Miguel-Ginebra clash that went into OT.

Aguilar’s Gin Kings conquered the Beermen, 110-107, in the rematch of last season’s mid-season finale.

Completing the attendance are national team veteran Gabe Norwood, along with younger players such as Roger Pogoy, Troy Rosario, and Raymond Almazan.

Players who have yet to attend are Scottie Thompson, Thirdy Ravena, Paul Lee, Poy Erram, and Jayson Castro.

On the other hand, naturalized center Andray Blatche is expected to rejoin the Filipino dribblers on July 8.
