eGilas heads to eFIBA World Championship

The Philippines’ NBA 2k national team, monickered eGilas, punched their ticket to the eFIBA Season 2 World Championship after completing a 2-0 sweep of Indonesia in the finals of the Asian Qualifiers on Tuesday.

They will be the lone Asian representative in the global spectacle in Sweden slated November 24-26, 2023.

The Filipinos dominated the early goings of the tournament, completing an 8-0 sweep of the double round robin elimination round, including an overwhelming 221-52 win over India.

In the Finals, eGilas first had to weather a fourth quarter storm from regional rivals Indonesia to pull off a pulsating 59-55 win.

Game 2 was a different story, however, as eGilas waylaid the Indonesians throughout the match en route to a runaway 57-41 victory.

The eGilas squad is composed of Clark Banzon, Isaiah Alindada, Kenneth Gutierrez, Julian Mallillin, Prich Diez, and coached by Nite Alparas.
