Edward Camposano believes more time, better chemistry will push Alpha Insurance next conference

Alpha Insurance came close to securing a semifinal berth in its maiden campaign at the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

The Protectors’ hopes were dashed after a crucial loss to VNS-Laticrete in the penultimate playdate of the eliminations, followed by a tough defeat against defending champion Cignal last Wednesday.

Despite the setback, team captain Edward Camposano remains optimistic, believing that with more preparation and team chemistry, Alpha Insurance can finally break through and contend for a semifinal spot in the next conference.

“Siguro ano, yung mahabang preparasyon and training namin. Kasi all throughout naman, yung two months na tinraining namin yun yung mga lumabas. Marami talagang kulang na kailangan pa talagang i-ayos sa training, so ayun, kailangan talaga namin ng mahabang training,” said Camposano.

As the newest team in the league, Alpha Insurance was assembled less than a month before the tournament, forcing them to quickly establish chemistry and adjust to the competition.

Despite their limited experience playing together, the Protectors put up a decent campaign, with players like Vincent Nadera and JJ Javelona stepping up to support Camposano in leading the squad.

Alpha Insurance finished in fifth place in the six-team field with a 2-8 win-loss record.

“Ayun, sabi nga samin ng coach namin kanina sa dugout na habang tumatagal, gumaganda yung chemistry namin. Nakikita namin yung sakripisyo ng bawa’t isa, andun naman lahat, ‘yun,” Camposano added.

Beyond improving their chemistry, the former National University standout emphasized the need to close out games better — an area where they struggled in crucial moments during the eliminations.

With time to develop stronger team cohesion and learn how to finish tight matches, Camposano is confident that Alpha Insurance will return as a more composed and competitive team in the next conference.

“Siguro yung kailangan i-develop namin yung winning point namin para makapasok, para makuha namin yung panalo pagka-ganung sitwasyon na dikdikan kasi may chance na makukuha na namin tapos mawawala eh,” he said.

“So yun yung kailangan naming i-practice — winning point hanggang end.”
