Eduard Folayang is currently on a journey to reclaim the ONE Lightweight World Championship.
Since losing the lightweight crown to Martin Nguyen last November, the 33-year-old Wushu practitioner (20-6) out of Baguio City has been on a tear. In his last two bouts, he took dominant unanimous decision wins over previously-undefeated Russians in Kharun Atlangeriev last May and Aziz Pakhrudinov last July.
But in order to be the best, you have to train with the best.
Last August 18, Folayang posted a picture on social media platform Instagram, saying “UNDER CONTRUCTION”.
Days later, he was seen training in Albuquerque, New Mexico at the world-renowned Jackson Wink MMA Academy.
Under the tutelage of Greg Jackson – trainer of former UFC champions Jon Jones, Georges St. Pierre, Holly Holm, and Rashad Evans – he has entered a rigorous camp with some of the world’s best.
Here he is after a session with former Interim UFC Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit:
After a grueling session, he took time to have a few words with coach Max Humphrey.
One of Folayang’s sparring partners in the trip is Andrew Tenneson, a mixed martial artist who owns a 6-1 record.
Surely, Folayang will showcase what he learned here in his next bout.
