The B.League teams continue to have the number of the PBA’s big boys.
A day after Utsunomiya romped TNT, 99-66, Ryukyu followed suit with a 96-68 demolition of San Miguel in the 2023 East Asia Super League Champions Week, Wednesday at Nikkan Arena.
Shorthanded were the Beermen early as former PBA MVP June Mar Fajardo collided knees with Jack Cooley midway through the opening salvo. Fajardo did not return to the game.
With Fajardo out, the Golden Kings pretty much took advantage of it, turning a 24-17 first quarter lead into a 49-28 cushion.
All in all, Ryukyu shot a superior 57-percent from the field, 13-of-34 from deep. San Miguel only went a paltry 37-percent from the field.
Keita Imamura led Ryukyu with 20 points while Jack Cooley also scored the same number of points with 16 rebounds.
Carl Tamayo also made his pro debut in the contest.
Cameron Clark paced San Miguel with 25 points.
San Miguel will fight for its dear life against Anyang KGC on Friday.
