EASL: Abando shows out as Anyang JKJ drops TNT to 0-4

The struggles of PBA teams in the 2023-24 East Asia Super League continued on Wednesday evening.

Defending KBL champion Anyang Jung Kwan Jang kept TNT winless, taking a 105-97 victory at Anyang Gymnasium.

Choi Seongwon led the scoring for the home team, contributing 24 points while Asian import Rhenz Abando got 13 points and five rebounds.

Alongside Abando, Choi made crucial baskets in the final stretch, thwarting Tropang Giga’s comeback attempt.

Daryl Monroe, the import for the Red Boosters, played a pivotal role with a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Ko Chanhyuk and Park Jihoon added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

This victory propelled their record to 2-0.

However, tensions flared late in the game as Monroe engaged in a spat with TNT senior consultant Chot Reyes while lurking behind the Tropang Giga huddle during a deadball situation.

Despite gallant performances from Quincy Miller, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Calvin Oftana, their efforts fell short.

Quincy Miller had an outstanding game, finishing with a game-high 35 points and nine rebounds.

Hollis-Jefferson contributed 29 points and eight rebounds, while Oftana added 25 points, spiked by five triples.

Meanwhile, the Chiba Jets continued to lead Group A with an undefeated 3-0 record.
