E-Gilas split exhibition matches in Olympic Esports Week

E-Gilas displayed world-class NBA 2k basketball as they finished with an even 1-1 record in the exhibition matches held during the Olympic Esports Week 2023 in Singapore.

The quintet, led by Clark “PHI.LCB” Banzon, highlighted their performance with a 61-37 walloping against Brazil.

Banzon led the fight for the Filipinos with a double-double performance of 18 points and 10 assists, while Prich “PHI.Don Prich” Diez and Isaiah “PHI.Ice” Alindada finished with 16 and 15 points, respectively.

They zoomed to a quick 8-0 lead from the beginning, which ballooned to a 33-20 spread at halftime.

E-Gilas continued relentlessly, allowing Brazil to score only five points in the third quarter while netting 15 for a runaway victory.

Against Turkiye, E-Gilas committed a costly turnover on an inbound play with 10 seconds left in overtime, paving the way for Mecit “Canboym” Boy’s game-winning shot from the top of the key, resulting in a 62-60 escape.

Banzon erupted for 41 points against their Turkish counterparts but failed to make the necessary shots in the final moments as E-Gilas succumbed to an overtime loss, despite leading from the second quarter and even going ahead with a 45-35 spread late in the third quarter.
