Despite a 14 month layoff, Drex Zamboanga showed little rust.
The fighter out of Toughguys International disposed of Detchadin Sorsirisuphathin in the second round of their bantamweight bout during ONE: A New Breed at the Impact Arena in Thailand, Friday evening.
Figuring in a stand-up battle against the Thai, Zamboanga showed no fear.
Despite some testy situations, the 31-year-old former URCC Bantamweight Champion remained upright with his hands tight.
This proved to be the difference as with 30 seconds left, Zamboanga was able to get the back of Sorsirisuphathin and attempt a rear naked choke. His opponent tried to tap with two seconds left in the bout, but eventually fell asleep for the technical submission win.
Zamboanga, who last fought back in URCC 77 last April 2019, raised his slate to 9-5.
Sorsirisuphathin, who was also making his ONE debut, dropped to 8-6.
