DLSU Lady Paddlers finish the elimination round at 3rd place


The De La Salle University Lady Paddlers ended the second round of eliminations in 3rd place with a win-loss record of 8-4.

DLSU vs FEU (5-2)

Looking to continue their winning ways, La Salle’s Ian Lariba would take her first match, 3-0. The next three matches would however go to the Lady Tamaraws with 3-0, 3-2, and 3-1 score lines.

DLSU vs NU (6-2)

The Afternoon proved to be better for the Lady Paddlers as they rout the National University Lady Bulldogs. DLSU singles competitors Jamaica Sy and Ian Lariba breezed through their opponents, both scoring 3-0. The tandem of Marcelle Galera and Darianne Talento would be in a heated 5 set battle, where they eventually bagged the win for the Lady Paddlers.

DLSU vs ADMU (7-2)

The Lady Paddlers started the second day of the second round of eliminations on a high note, routing their Katipunan-based rivals, the Ateneo de Manila Lady Paddlers. Both Donna Gamilla, and Ian Lariba breezed against their opponents, recording 3-0 respectively. Ateneo’s pair of Dominique Dizon and Lexine Uy, would grab the first two sets of the doubles competition, but La Salle’s combo of Darianne Talento and Marcelle Galera rallied to win the next three sets, 3-2. DLSU wins, 3-0.

DLSU vs UP (7-3)

The DLSU streak would however come to an end against the defending champions UP. The defending champions drew first blood by bagging the first match. Ian Lariba would avenge the loss by routing her opponent, 3-0. The doubles match was a 5-setter, where DLSU’s Darianne Talento and Ina Co managed to take, 3-2. The next two matches however would belong to UP, with Joma Sibal and Noriko Nishino routing their opponents.

DLSU vs UST (7-4)

The afternoon would open on a heated note for the Lady Paddlers and the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses. UST’s Girly Apas would draw first blood by taking the first match in a narrow 3-2 win. The second match would feature DLSU’s Jamaica Sy winning, 3-0. In the doubles match, the tandem of Juvylyn Robles and Katrina Tempiatura would manage to rout opponents Darianne Talento and Ina Co. UST would fail to finish off DLSU and give up the third singles match, 0-3. The deciding match featured V Lupeba beating DLSU’s Marcelle Galera, 3-0. UST would bag a hard fought win, 3-2.

DLSU vs AdU (8-4)

Looking to bounce back after a loss, the Lady Paddlers charged head-on and routed the Adamson University Lady Falcons. Jamaica Sy and Ian Lariba, both cruised to a 3-0 win in their respective matches. The doubles competition would end after 5 sets in favour of DLSU’s Mardeline Carreon and Darianne Talento.
