Poy Erram showed what he can bring to the NLEX Road Warriors on Sunday evening.
After having just 10 points and five rebounds against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters two nights ago, the 6-foot-7 slotman produced 19 points, seven boards, and three blocks versus the NorthPort Batang Pier.
“Unti-unti [nagiging] familiar na sila [sa laro ko],” said Erram, who shot an excellent 7-of-10 from the field and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. “Pero for me, I’m just doing my job. Kung kailangan umiskor, iiskor.
“Talagang kailangan eh.”
However, his efforts went down the drain.
The Road Warriors lost gas heading into the homestretch, going cold after knocking within a solitary point with four minutes left to play. They eventually bowed to a Sean Anthony-led Batang Pier, 90-95.
NLEX are now at 0-2 to start the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
“Pero, ayun, kahit naman sabihin mong maganda nilaro ko, the whole team wala eh,” lamented the 29-year-old.
“We didn’t deliver the win talaga.”
For the six-year pro out of Ateneo, it was the Road Warriors’ hesitation that cost them. It led to too many turnovers, since NLEX committed 23 errors, which the opposition took advantage of and converted it to 24 points.
“Tentative kami masyado eh,” rued Erram, who committed six turnovers. “‘Pag passing, yung mga crucial moments na kailangan mo ipasa or ititira namin, nagiging turnover.”
So for Erram, he hopes that he and the Road Warriors will play better next time around, as far as decision-making is concerned.
“So we need to make quick, smart decisions lalo na ngayon zero-two na kami. We have to commit less mistakes,” he said.
“Mahirap na makabawi pag naging down kami zero-three.”
