Bowles arrives, set to reinforce TNT


The TNT Katropa finally had a chance to see what Denzel Bowles can bring

2012 Commissioners’ Cup Best Import Denzel Bowles arrived in Manila on Monday morning and immediately reported to the TNT Katropa. And first-year TNT head coach Nash Racela was delighted to get a quality reinforcement for his first Commissioners’ Cup campaign.

“Have to say I’m happy,” the 45-year-old mentor told Tiebreaker Times.

“He’ll give us flexibility on offense and will help up defensively with his length and quickness.”

Standing at 6-foot-11, the former Star Hotshots mainstay posted norms of 23.4 points on 46 percent shooting to go along with 13.2 rebounds and 2.0 swats in his three-year stay with Star. However, the 27-year-old played just five games for the Hotshots a year ago due to family matters.

And he vowed to never play for the Star Hotshots, citing indifference with team consultant Jason Webb as reason.

The Katropa look to sustain the momentum they gained from a semifinals finish in the 2016-17 Philippine Cup. A year ago, TNT had made the playoffs of the Commissioners’ Cup, only to succumb to eventual finalists Alaska Aces, 2-1, in the quarterfinals.
