Denice “Lycan Queen” Zamboanga remains the top contender in the ONE women’s atomweight division following a shake-up in the ONE Athlete Rankings.
Zamboanga has long been the top contender in the division, and the ranking panel of former athletes and journalists still have her as such – even after her controversial split-decision loss to Ham Seo Hee at ONE: Empower in May.
However, moving up one notch in the atomweight rankings is ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix finalist Stamp Fairtex. After beating Julie Mezabarba at ONE: NextGen, she jumped to number two in the rankings, replacing Ham in that spot.
Ham dropped to number three, though. Meanwhile, the other finalist, Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat, remained in the fourth spot, not moving an inch even after beating the Philippines’ Jenelyn Olsim last week.
Wrapping up the atomweight division is no.5-ranked Meng Bo.
Elsewhere in the rankings, there’s a new top man in the ONE featherweight kickboxing rankings. Marat Grigorian has finally dislodged longtime king Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan for his spot.
The Armenian-born Belgian kickboxer has yet to lose in The Home of Martial Arts, and he had the honor of ending the illustrious career of legendary Dutch kickboxer Andy “Souwer Power” Souwer in the semifinals of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix.
Petrosyan, on the other hand, had the chance to become the first-ever ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion. However, “The Doctor” suffered a knockout loss to Superbon.
That said, by retaining her top spot, Zamboanga assured that six Filipinos remain in the rankings.
ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio sits atop his division.
Lito “Thunder Kid” Adiwang is at number five in the strawweight division.
Danny “The King” Kingad is at second in the flyweight division.
Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon is second in the bantamweight division.
And Jenelyn Olsim remains in the fifth spot in the strawweight rankings.
ONE Championship’s official athlete rankings are determined by an independent panel of sports media members and industry experts following each event. The panel ranks the athletes on criteria including wins and losses, their most recent performances, and quality of competition.
