DeMarcus Cousins is set to reinforce the Zamboanga Valientes for their upcoming homestand in the final leg of The Asian Tournament.
The four-time NBA All-Star had previously played for the Taiwan Mustangs in the last leg. He will now bring his talents to the Valientes for the final leg of the regional tournament, running from August 5 to 12 in Zamboanga.
Cousins arrived in the Philippines yesterday afternoon and participated in his first practice session with the squad today at the Active Hoop Arena in Mandaluyong City.
The Valientes lost starting guard Peter Alfaro in the last leg after he was drafted into the PBA. Alongside Cousins, they have also strengthened their lineup by signing PBA veteran Mac Belo, who last played for Rain or Shine.
Belo will reunite with former Far Eastern University teammate Mike Tolomia in Zamboanga.
The Valientes are coming off a 1-4 campaign in the fourth leg held in Taipei, Taiwan.
Only four teams will compete in Leg 5 of TAT: the Valientes, Pola Pilipinas RPG, Macau Black Bears, and Hong Kong Jambo.
