Embattled ex-PBA player Ronald Pascual will get a chance to be a professional basketball player once again.
According to his good friend Calvin Abueva, the 32-year-old native of Mexico, Pampanga has signed with reigning National Basketball League-Pilipinas champions Delta.
With the Delta, Pascual gets to reunite with his mentor and second father Gov. Dennis Pineda, who is the head coach of the team.
“Kinuha na siya ni Boss Dennis.
“Pinag-lalaro siya sa NBL dito sa Pampanga para mabalik naman yung siste na ginagawa niya dati,” Abueva told The Chasedown.
Despite being the third overall pick in the 2014 PBA Draft and a former Gilas cadet, Pascual only spent four years in the big league.
After being released by Alaska in 2018, the 6-foot-2 swingman went into a downward spiral that culminated with his brother Ronel making a plea for him to come back home.
Definitely, Pascual will be home with Pineda’s team.
Pascual’s fellow Pinatubo trio brothers Abueva and Ian Sangalang are currently teammates in Magnolia.
Also struggling with personal demons over the past few years, Abueva has this advice for his good friend.
“Kaya naman makabalik sa PBA basta ayusin niya lang yung sarili niya at maging focused lang siya doon sa goal niya na makapag-laro ulit.”
