It was just Game One of the best-of-seven series between the San Miguel Beermen and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, but it felt like it was a do-or-die contest.
San Miguel swingman David Semerad and Ginebra guard Paolo Taha both suffered injuries in the early-goings of the contest held at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum, Friday evening.
Just three minutes in the second frame, Semerad landed awkwardly during a box out play against Japeth Aguilar, hurting his right knee.
Later on, Taha hurt his right knee with 33.1 ticks remaining in the half.
During a fastbreak attempt by Chris Ross, Taha went for the block but crashed to the baseline. Aguilar inadvertently shoved Sol Mercado who fell on Taha’s knee.
Taha is averaging 2.33 points and 1.11 rebounds, while Semerad is posting norms of 0.57 points and 1.86 boards per contest.
