Dave Ildefonso earns MPBL season MVP honors

Dave Ildefonso, a key reason Abra Solid North clinched the North Division title, ran away with the 747. LIVE presents Manny Pacquiao MPBL 2025 Season MVP award on Tuesday at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.

The versatile 6-foot-4 guard-forward from Ateneo de Manila University averaged 17.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals during the elimination round, earning him a spot on the All-MPBL First Team.

Ildefonso, who also had a stint in the Korean Basketball League with Suwon KT, joins an elite list of MVPs that includes 2018 MVP Gab Banal (Bacoor, now Quezon Province), 2019 MVP John Wilson (Gensan, now Nueva Ecija), 2022 MVP JC Marcelino (Zamboanga), and 2023-2024 MVP Justine Baltazar (Pampanga).

Also named to the First Team alongside Ildefonso, son of two-time PBA MVP Danny Ildefonso, were L-Jay Gonzales (Quezon Province), Kenny Rogers Rocacurva (Biñan Tatak Gel), Vic Manuel (Pangasinan), and Christian Fajarito (Pasay).

The All-MPBL Second Team featured Orlan Wamar (San Juan), Jaycee Marcelino, Levi Hernandez (Batangas City Tanduay), Larry Muyang (Pampanga), and Eric Camson (Rizal Xentromall).

Raven Gonzales, Ildefonso’s 6-foot-8 teammate at Abra, was named Rookie of the Year, while Warlo Batac (Pasig) took home Most Improved Player honors.

Other awardees included Prince Casin (Caloocan) as Homegrown Player of the Year, Jun Bonsubre (Caloocan) as Defensive Player of the Year, and Nikko Panganiban (San Juan), who received the Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year.

Mayor Gel Alonte of Biñan was recognized as Executive of the Year.

MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes presented the trophies to the winners or their representatives.
