Darrell Menina transfers to National U

The exodus of student-athletes from Mapua continues

After Allwell Oraeme’s decision to sit out the 93rd Season of the NCAA, Mapua University gunner Darrell Menina has decided to leave the Cardinals program and transfer to the National University.

“Opo, NU na ako,” the 20-year-old Cebuano said.

The 5-foot-8 guard averaged 8.9 points on 27.3 percent shooting from downtown to go along with 3.3 assists during the 92nd Season of the NCAA. Mapua finished third in the seniors basketball tournament.

Menina will have to sit out the 80th Season of the UAAP and will only be eligible for Season 81. And he hopes that he will crack coach Jamike Jarin’s line-up.

“Sana makalaro,” said Menina, who played in Mapua for two years.

“Gusto ko rin kasi makalaro sa UAAP.”

The Mapua Cardinals and the NU Bulldogs have the same team manager in construction magnate Manny Sy.
