Confidence, preparation fuel Kianna Dy’s return to top form

After battling injuries over the past few years, opposite spiker Kianna Dy is finally enjoying her best stretch yet in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

A patellar tendon tear in her right knee had disrupted her rhythm during her time with F2 Logistics and the early days with PLDT, but she has gradually rebuilt her form, leading to the resurgence she is now showing.

“For me personally, I think we had a longer preparation before coming into this tournament. And, not just court-wise, but also physically. Basically, I couldn’t stop rehabbing my knee, so that’s one thing that really helped me,” said the 30-year-old winger.

“And also, nakatulong din yung nag-Japan kami as a team. Not just inside the court but also outside. So, magandang pangyayari.”

On Thursday night, Dy showed just how far she has come, powering the High Speed Hitters to a four-set win over Farm Fresh in the qualifying round and securing a semifinal berth.

The former La Salle standout, who has been consistent all conference long for PLDT, finished with 19 points off 17 attacks, one ace, and one block. She also had six excellent digs.

Dy said her performance is simply a matter of getting reacclimated to competitive play after a long time on the sidelines due to injury.

She also thanked everyone who supported her throughout her recovery journey, crediting them for helping her regain full form and confidence on the court.

“I guess it’s me just getting used to playing again and matagal na rin yung injury ko, so na-build up ko rin yung confidence ko coming into this tournament,” said Dy.

“I guess yung support sa team, coaches, and yung supporters namin. ‘Di sila… They didn’t give up on me.”
