After a disappointing NCAA Season 99 campaign, San Sebastian has decided to overhaul its basketball program.
Cocolife has responded to the call to rejuvenate the long-struggling Stags program.
Multiple sources have confirmed this development to Tiebreaker Times, as initially reported by Snow Badua.
Taking over as head coach is former Davao Occidental head coach Arvin Bonleon.
Bonleon replaces John Kallos, who led the Golden Stags to a disappointing 6-12 record last season.
Current UST Tiger Cubs and Davao Occi head coach Manu Inigo was one of the candidates for the position.
Although lacking experience in the larger leagues, Bonleon will be mentored by consultant Allan Caidic.
Caidic is also the commissioner of the Cocolife-backed Pilipinas Super League.
San Sebastian becomes the third school supported by an MPBL team, following EAC (Nueva Ecija) and Letran (Pampanga).
The last time the Golden Stags made it to the Final Four was back in Season 95 when the team was still handled by Egay Macaraya.
