Kiefer Ravena and Shiga finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel, escaping Yokohama, 76-72, to snap their 11-game skid in the 2021-22 B.League season, Saturday at Ukaruchan Arena.
This is Shiga’s first victory since their 110-79 triumph over Nagoya last October 24.
And the Lakestars needed to dig deep to finally get back to the win column.
With the game tied at 72-all, Ravena backed Patrik Auda down before throwing up his patented jumper plus the harm. He gave his side a three-point lead with 26 seconds left.
Shusuke Ikuhara was called for a travelling afterward while Novar Gadson nailed an insurance free throw to seal the win.
Ravena had 20 points in the game on 6-of-10 shooting with eight assists.
Teppei Kashiwagura and Gadson got 12 and 10 points, respectively, with the latter also grabbing seven rebounds. Sean O’Mara added 10 rebounds along with six points.
Shiga went up to 7-13 after the win while dropping Yokohama to 6-14.
Auda paced the B-Corsairs with 20 points but committed six turnovers. Reginald Becton got 17 points and 16 rebounds, while Leyton Hammonds added 16 points.
The two teams will face each other again tomorrow.
