Cignal signs Cayuna, Araneta, General for next PVL season

After a dismal 2021 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference campaign, Cignal picked up some much-needed help for next year’s season.

Cignal signed Gel Cayuna, who previously played for the Perlas Spikers in the PVL bubble; as well as Angeli Araneta and Bia General to boost its bid in the country’s first-ever professional volleyball league.

Cayuna played as the starting setter for Perlas in the Open Conference. Meanwhile, Araneta and General – who would have suited up for Unlimited Athletes Club before the team backed out at the last minute – will have a fresh start with Cignal.

The HD Spikers entered the season without top guns Alohi Robins-Hardy, Jovelyn Gonzaga, and Mylene Paat. They finished at dead-last with a 1-8 standing.

Cayuna, Araneta, and General will be joining Rachel Daquis, Janine Marciano, Jheck Dionela, and Roselyn Doria as they try to lift Cignal out of the PVL cellar.

Daquis is also currently in Hawai’i to visit Alohi Robins-Hardy and free agent Kalei Mau.

Cignal has yet to announce its participation in the Philippine National Volleyball League Federation Champions League.
