It’s not just Filipino players whom overseas leagues are interested in.
Apparently, local coaches are on their radar as well.
On Sunday evening, Rain or Shine announced that its assistant coach Chris Gavina has signed with T1 League’s Taichung.
The Suns were the former team of Jordan Heading.
Gavina, 43, previously coached Mahindra and MPBL teams Valenzuela and Bacoor.
In 2018, he signed with the Elasto Painters as an assistant coach before being elevated to the head coaching role last year.
In the three conferences as head coach of Rain or Shine, he compiled a 13-22 elimination round record — only making the playoffs once.
Prior to the Commissioner’s Cup, Yeng Guiao replaced him as head coach of Rain or Shine.
Meanwhile, Gavina replaces Alberto Garcia, who was only signed by Taichung after the season. Taichung’s head coach last season was Iurgi Caminos.
