For their heroic stand during the 11th ASEAN Para Games, Chooks-to-Go treated the members of the Philippine National Wheelchair Basketball Team with a feast befitting heroes on Tuesday at Chooks! dine-in restaurant in Ali Mall, Araneta Center.
Chooks-to-Go President Ronald Mascariñas personally invited and welcomed the Pilipinas Warriors, who were coming off silver finishes in both 5-on-5 and 3×3 wheelchair basketball in the games held in Indonesia last week, treating them to an eat-all-you-can dine-in experience at Chooks!
Besides the sumptuous meals, Mascariñas bestowed each player and coach of the Warriors with P20,000 and Chooks-to-Go chicken vouchers as rewards for their feat.
“We pay tribute to this brave group of athletes who brought honor to our country. Their gallant stand and achievement in the ASEAN Para Games should serve as inspiration for all of us to realize that there is no challenge in life that cannot be overcome by an earnest belief in one’s self and a genuine desire to make the country proud,” said Mascariñas.
Members of the 3×3 wheelchair baskeball team are Alfie Quiñones Cabañog, John Rey Escalante, Rene Macabenguil, Kenneth Christopher Tapia, and Clifford Trocino while the 5-on-5 team consists of Freddie Magdayo, Marlon Nacita, Jefferson Legacion, Moises Escobar, Kyle Carlo I. Carandang, Jannil B. Cañete, and Mark Vincent P. Aguilar.
The team’s coaching staff consists of Juanito Mingarine, Vernon Perea, Michael Angelo Galea, Harry Solanoy, and Yolanda Hernandez.
The Warriors have long been close to the hearts of Chooks-to-Go and Mascariñas.
Prior to the pandemic, Chooks-to-Go gave the team new equipment and paid for the team’s trainings for their competitions in the lead-up to the 2020 ASEAN Para Games. The event though was eventually canceled.
Moving forward, Chooks-to-Go will look to continue support, not just the Warriors but also the country’s other para-athletes in their competitions.
